Born on the same day on opposite ends of the country, Mike Pappas and Fann are yell for help, an American alternative/pop duo with industrial and ambient influences. They were introduced by a mutual friend in the summer of 2012 and have hated each other ever since. Their first EP, “Love Will Keep Us Together”, came out late last year.
As a lead-up to South by Southwest, The Noise Room is talking to bands and artists performing at SXSW. Here’s what yell for help had to say:
What do like most about playing at SXSW?
Don’t know yet! yell for help are South by Southwest virgins!!!
Are you out promoting anything?
We put our first EP, “Love Will Keep Us Together” out the latter part of last year and just finished another video for one of the songs off of that EP. The song is called “Winter Sun”. It was sort of a do-it-yourself type of deal. Just us and our buddy with a handheld…. and lots of christmas lights. Super fun. Super bright.
Are there any bands or musicians that you are looking forward to checking out?
Oh my God, so many it’s hard to list them all. We’re really looking forward to seeing bands play in weird/ strange places and new, live music for a whole week.
What are the challenges for you or your band when playing at SXSW?
Honestly we have no idea because we’ve never played here. Ask us at 12:40am on Tuesday!
Do you have any survival tips for those attending SXSW?
Not really…. but hopefully someone has some for us!
Are you more “stick around, check out music and enjoy the scene” or “play as many shows as possible then get out”?
Oh man, both at the same time! We’re kind of like “play super hard and hang out a while” types.
