Many guitarists who are recording their own music use amp simulators or all-in-one pedals such as the Eleven Rack from Avid, the POD HD from Line 6, or the ME-80 from BOSS to get their sound. This option makes it somewhat easier to dial in your sound. However, there are those of us who still like to mic their amplifiers to get the tone they’ve worked so hard at achieving.
