No Coast is made up of Nate Black – guitar and vocals, Mike Wilson – bass and vocals, Neal Cunningham – organ, and, Bryon White – drums. A rock band with a vintage punk and pop influence, we pride ourselves on making music that makes us happy. We want people to feel the same way after listening to our music or seeing us live. No Coast’s home base is in a small town in Indiana (kokomo) not far from the capital city of Indianapolis.
As a lead-up to South by Southwest, The Noise Room is talking to bands and artists performing at SXSW. Here’s what No Coast had to say:
What do like most about playing at SXSW?
The thing we like most about playing SXSW is the amount of diversity in the line up. One could go see a hip-hop show and then walk straight into a country show or a jam band. We love that.
Are you out promoting anything?
No Coast will be out promoting our new 7″ vinyl. It will be released on GloryHole Records out of Indianapolis and will contain 2 brand new songs from us. The songs can be listened to via our Bandcamp page at nocoastbandcamp.bandcamp.com
Are there any bands or musicians that you are looking forward to checking out?
Bands that we are excited to see are The Weeks, Tony Joe White, Night Riots, Diarrhea Planet along with just discovering some new music that we’ve never heard of. I think that’s what it’s really about.
What are the challenges for you or your band when playing at SXSW?
The only challenge we’re facing right now is tour. There’s tons of bands all migrating to the same area. Trying to book shows on the way down has proven itself difficult for us.
Do you have any survival tips for those attending SXSW?
We have never been to SXSW so don’t actually have any survival tips. Maybe.. try no to overload on PBR and tex-mex so your head and belly will be ready to catch all the bands you can. Missing out on a band you want to see because you’re hungover would really suck.
Are you more “stick around, check out music and enjoy the scene” or “play as many shows as possible then get out”?
We are going to stick around SXSW for as long as we possibly can. We’ll be arriving on the 11th and will be checking out bands for as long as we can!
What are your SXSW Show Times:
Friday, March 14th at 8:00 PM – Lit Lounge Upstairs (215 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701)
